This time, TAKISAWA’s machine to create an aluminum lantern that resembles a bamboo tube.

An aluminum pipe is now look like a real bamboo tube.

Please watch the video to the end to see how it was machined in detail!

Point 1: End Face and O.D. Turning

End Face and O.D. Machining: Normally, 2~3 cutting tools are required because the tool angle differs at the root of the workpiece, but by changing the tool angle in the B-axis setting, machining becomes possible with one straight turning tool.
The minimum indexing angle of B-axis Indexing is 0.0001° and fine adjustment can be made.

Point 2: Machining Fireworks Pattern

Simultaneous 4-axis control involving the X, Y, Z, and C axes enables to machine complexed shapes. Five types of drills (φ3 to φ8) are used for drilling.
The maximum tool spindle speed is 12,000. It can also support small-diameter machining.

Point 3: Machining Tilted Surface

By tilting the tool on the B-axis, it replicates the realistic shape as if it were cut from real bamboo!

Point 4: Engraving Text Design

Simultaneous 4-axis control enables engraving characters on a curved surface inside a workpiece.

The kanji character “滝” (waterfall) is engraved beautifully using an end mill.

Today we have introduced you to machining using simultaneous 4-axis control and B-axis indexing.

TMX-4000ST also supports simultaneous 5-axis control.

We always accept test cutting requests!
